Permanently Parked and Untaxed Vehicles

Special Newsletter - August 1999

We have received a number of enquiries as to why no apparent action has been taken against untaxed or unmoved vehicles on Brookscroft since the resident's annual meeting and our special newsletter No 2.

At the resident's meeting there was a clear desire for the Directors to act on this matter and it was proposed that a notice be attached to each of the three offending cars. Before doing this, BML wrote to the persons believed to be the owners of each vehicle highlighting the problem and requesting that the vehicles be removed. As a result of this, one vehicle has now been removed but there are still two cars permanently parked on the estate roads and not displ aying a valid tax disc.

To take legal advice and action would incur an expense on the garden rate that we would most likely find difficult to recover from the owners. The Directors feel confident that the garden rate payers would prefer to avoid this form of action if possible. The monies paid each year as garden rate by the residents are solely intentioned for the purposes of maintenance and repairs and therefore any monies spent on the pursuance of an individual over their lack of consideration for othe rs is in our view a regrettable and unnecessary waste.

In line with the other areas of Forestdale we therefore intend to now regard all untaxed vehicles or persistently unmoved vehicles as abandoned by their owners. Our managing agents will now be asked to arrange for the removal of both vehicles on September 1st 1999 unless the owners comply with the parking regulations before that date and inform BML of that compliance.

The Directors have also concluded that it in view of the difficulties encountered over the past 12 months, it is now necessary to review the parking regulations and make changes where required in order to bring them into line with the current situation. We therefore invite all residents to submit any comments about the present regulations and any suggestions as to how they could be improved directly to the directors or via our website guest book
